Teresa Meaney, age 79, of Arnold, MD, and formerly a long-time resident of Bronxville, NY, passed away suddenly at home on January 6, 2026.

Born on October 2, 1946, in rural County Laois, Ireland. Teresa, lovingly known as Tessie to her family, was the youngest of ten children born to Michael and Mary Meaney. At just 16, she left home to find work in England before emigrating to the United States at age 22.

Teresa settled in the Bronx, NY, where she lived for 30 years. She later moved to Bronxville, NY, residing there for 24 years before relocating to Maryland in 2022 to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter.

Teresa worked as a Bank Teller for Emigrant Savings Bank (later Apple Bank) for 34 years until her retirement in 2014.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Sara and David Glaser; her cherished granddaughter, Anna Glaser; her sister, Josephine Little; and many nieces and nephews. Teresa was preceded in death by her siblings: Masie Ryan, Philomena Barlow, Sheila Meany, Kathleen Irving, James Meaney, Daniel Meaney, Jack Meaney, and Anthony Meaney.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to your local food bank or to Part of the Solution (POTS) at potsbronx.org, a Bronx-based organization dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, February 3rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Fred H. McGrath & Son, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4th, at 10:45 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 15 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. Interment will be private at a later date.
