Sylvia Rebecca Taylor, known to her family and friends as Becky,  passed away on February 20, 2024.

She was born on August 5, 1950 in Whiteville, North Carolina to her parents Luther A. Meares and Cecilia (née Horne) Meares. She grew up in Whiteville and lived in Silver Spring and Berlin, Maryland before moving to Binghamton, New York. She was married to Michael B. Taylor Sr. in December of 1969 and was a homemaker.

Becky was an avid reader, particularly of science fiction. She enjoyed politics, cats, cosplay, cooking, and classical music.

She is survived by her sister, Royanna Jackson of Wilmington, NC; her brother Richard Pleasants of Crozet, VA; her sons Paul Taylor of Binghamton, NY and Michael B. Taylor Jr. of Pasadena, MD; her granddaughters Calla Taylor of Dallas, TX, Reagan Taylor of Pasadena, MD, and Delaney Taylor of Pasadena, MD; and her grandsons Jay Taylor of Damascus, MD, and Zak Taylor of Damascus, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael B. Taylor Sr.

Family and friends may visit on Friday March 1st at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park MD, 21146 from10:00-11:00 am with a funeral service starting at 11:00 am. Her burial will be private.
