Susanne Nikoloff
Susanne Nikoloff, 85, a resident of Arnold, MD for 37 years, died November 5 at Talbot Hospice House in Easton after a brief illness.
She was born Susanna Klintcharova on February 8, 1923, in Sofia, Bulgaria. She left Bulgaria at the age of 18 to study at university in Vienna, Austria, where she met and married Radko Nikoloff in July 1947. She later graduated with a doctorate in medicine. In 1957, they emigrated to the United States, settling first in New Jersey, then in Arnold, Maryland.
Until very recently, Mrs. Nikoloff was active in the Arnold Senior Center, taking classes there and at Anne Arundel Community College. She volunteered for many years at Chesapeake Treasures, the Hospice of the Chesapeake's Severna Park consignment shop. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren, who called her "Oma."
Mrs. Nikoloff was preceded in death by Mr. Nikoloff, her husband of 61 years. Survivors include a brother, Evgueni Klintcharov, of Sofia, Bulgaria; three adult children, Dianna Fornaro, of Eldersburg, MD; Jeannie Weitzel, of Cambridge, MD; and Robert Nikoloff, of San Mateo, CA; and seven grandchildren: Michael and Sophia Fornaro; Drew, Nick, and Jordan Weitzel; and Johnny and Sydney Nikoloff.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, November 13, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy., Severna Park, MD 21146. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7215 Ritchie Hwy, Glen Burnie, MD.
