Susanne Clifton Chapman suddenly passed away on December 31, 2023 at the age of 74 in Annapolis, Maryland. She was born on March 9, 1949 in Camden, NJ to parents Charles and Dorothy Fell. She is survived by her loyal husband Steven Chapman of 55 years; sister Margaret Peterson of Pottsville, PA; daughters Christine Anne Shaughnessy of New Bern, NC and Jennifer Grace Chapman of Arnold, MD; grandchildren Perry and Megan Shaughnessy and Ryan and Kailey Fitzgerald; along with many nieces and nephews.
Susanne grew up enjoying life on the beaches of her hometown, Cape May, NJ, and attended Lower Cape May Regional High School until 1963 when her family moved to Severna Park, Maryland. There she attended Severna Park High School followed by Anne Arundel Community College at which time she met the love of her life, Steven.
Susanne owned and operated a licensed family daycare for 15 years where she raised and loved dozens of infants, toddlers and young children who adored her. She was then employed by Bay Hills Card and Gift for 6 years.
Susanne's desire to be an educator was fulfilled when she was hired as a certified special education assistant at Van Bokkelen Elementary and West Annapolis Elementary. While at West Annapolis, she lovingly served as a kindergarten assistant teacher. In 2015, Susanne retired after 18 years of service. Sue was adored by both colleagues and students. Her dedication and loyalty was felt by all whose lives she touched.
Susanne found joy and shared her generous spirit in many ways to include loving and supporting her devoted husband and family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
