Susan Marie Lee (nee Schwarz), 81, passed away on March 8, 2025 after a battle with dementia. She was born on March 23, 1943 in Takoma Park, MD to Joseph Schwarz and Anna Mancini. She grew up in Southeast Washington, DC where she attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary School and the Academy of Notre Dame.

After high school, Susan worked as a legal secretary in a law office. She married Ralph Lee, Jr. on February 8, 1964 and they lived in Temple Hills, MD where she stayed at home to raise her children before moving to Chapel Hill, NC for four years while Ralph was on active duty with the Army. They then settled in Arnold, MD where they lived for 45 years before moving to Arbor Terrace Waugh Chapel in September 2022.

Susan worked in the payroll office at Anne Arundel Community College where she excelled and retired as the payroll supervisor. She was the matriarch of her entire immediate family, including her brothers and sisters. She enjoyed hosting family birthday parties, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas. She liked to go to Annapolis, and also enjoyed trips to Williamsburg, Ocean City, Canada, and the Bavarian Inn in WV. In retirement, she and Ralph traveled to France, Italy, and the UK, and took many drives in the local area. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.

Susan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ralph Lee, Jr; her children, Anthony Lee (Jeanelle Faith), Paul Lee, Ramona (Keith) Bigelow, Yvette (Craig) Frye, and Katrina Lee (Devon Vogt); siblings, Joseph Schwarz, Andrew (Jenny) Schwarz, Emma Schwarz (Michael Handy), and Elizabeth (Gary) Sumner; brothers-in-law, Stephen Moore and Erwin Allen; sister-in-law, Shirley Lee; as well as five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret Moore and Karen Allen; brothers-in-law, Samuel Lee and Hugh Lee; and sister-in-law, Carol Lee.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 4:00-7:00pm at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.

Her burial will be at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD 20623, on Wednesday April 16, 2025 at 10:30 am.

Donations may be made in Susan's name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, the Alzheimer's Association, or St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.
