Sue Ann (Everngam) Spencer, a 48 year resident of Severna Park, died at Sunrise of Severna Park on May 8th, 2014 at age 81 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

She was born February 17, 1933 in York, Pennsylvania to William Herdman and Oleita (McConkey) Everngam. She was raised in Baltimore, MD and attended Forest Park and Catonsville High Schools. Following graduation from Catonsville in 1951 she attended the Bard Avon business school and became a medical secretary in Baltimore and then at Ft Knox Kentucky, where she and her husband served in the 1950s.
She married her high school sweetheart, Allan Lee Spencer, in 1953 during his senior year at Johns Hopkins, and they recently celebrated over 61 years of marriage. They are the parents of Jeffrey Allan Spencer of Willow Street, PA and Kimberly Ann Andersen of Thousand Oaks, CA.


In addition to her husband Allan, she is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Janet Burrowes Spencer, her daughter Kimberly, and five grandchildren: Megan Elizabeth Spencer, Andrew Jeffrey Spencer, Brooke Elizabeth Andersen, David Christopher Andersen, and Lt (USN) Kristen Sue Harding and her husband Lt (USN) Jason Lawrence Harding. Her sister, Lois Mae Everngam, passed away in 1947.

In addition to her devotion to her family, she loved her home and gardening, enjoyed bridge with close friends, was a leader in the Brownies and Girl Scouts, and liked to entertain family and friends on special occasions and holidays.

Sue was very interested in early American antiques and decorating, and enjoyed antique hunting at shows along the East Coast. Following her husband's retirement in 1993, she turned her hobby into "The Spencer Collection", an antique business specializing in American arts and crafts of the 18th and 19th century, and exhibited in dozens of antique shows in neighboring states.. She was also a member of The Women's Club of Severna Park, the Severna Park Garden Club, and the Severna Park United Methodist Church.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 o'clock on Monday May 19th, 2014 at the Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD, followed by a luncheon at the church to which all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Endowment Fund of the Severna Park United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Chesapeake are welcomed.
