Steve Mainhart, 59, passed away at home on June 23, 2019.
Born on March 5, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late John Robert and Georgeanna Kerr Mainhart.
Steve, formerly of Glen Burnie Maryland, living in Arnold Maryland, leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Susan Mainhart and two sons, Andrew and Douglas Mainhart. Also survived by a Sister, Catherine Jubb (Husband Jerry) of Arnold, niece Amy Hand (Husband Bill) of New York, nephew Jerry Jubb (Wife Annie) of Annapolis, and Uncle, Howard "Bud" Kerr (Wife Carole) of Bowie.
Steve grew up in Glen Burnie, graduating from Glen Burnie High School, succeeding in all athletics he participated in. He achieved his Associates Degree from Anne Arundel Community College where he also played on AACC's football team.
In the early 80's he moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina, where he worked as a Bar Manager for the Chart House. He moved back to Maryland and began working at Piedmont Airlines, where he met his wife Susan.
He went back to work as a Kitchen Manager at the Annapolis Chart House Always having a passion for the restaurant business, he took the opportunity to help open Woodfire Restaurant in Severna Park, Maryland, eventually becoming sole owner. He enjoyed the community's support throughout the years. For all those who came seeking employment, he encouraged them follow their passion in his restaurant and in life. He loved supporting local charities, never being able to say no. When Woodfire closed its doors after nearly 16 years of service, Steve was never prouder of all the people – employees and customers alike – who supported him during that time, proudly calling them his "Woodfire family"
Following his next passion, Sports, Steve worked for the Baltimore Orioles Event Staff as a Team Lead at Gate F. He loved greeting everyone and earned Employee of the Year in 2017. He also worked for the Baltimore Ravens Event Staff as a Courtesy Team Lead.
He was an Elder at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church in Annapolis, Maryland, serving on the property committee, worship committee, appointed to the PNC committee, and sang in the church choir. He could always be seen mowing the grounds of the church almost on a weekly basis. His passion for God always led him to find the best in everyone to help in any way he could. Steve always had time for a big hug and if you were lucky enough, "The Big Cheesy" smile.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, July 21st, 1:00pm at Christ Our Anchor Church, 1281 Green Holly Dr., Annapolis, MD 21409.
