Stephen Peet
Stephen Richard Peet, 47, of Upper Marlboro and formerly of Arnold, died of heart failure June 17 at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore after a three-month illness.
Born March 10, 1958, in Cooperstown, N.Y., and the son of Susan M. Peet of Davenport, N.Y., and the late Richard Peet, Mr. Peet was reared in Davenport. He graduated from The Crane School of Music in 1980 and earned a master's degree in music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., in 1986.
Mr. Peet worked at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church in Annapolis as director of music and liturgy for the past eight years. He also taught privately, giving vocal, piano and organ instruction. He was a member and lecturer for the National Association of Pastoral Musicians.
The director and an instructor for the Severna Park Bridge Club, he achieved the rank of Bronze Life Master.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his longtime companion, Teodoro E. Gelabert of Upper Marlboro; one brother, Timothy J. Peet of San Antonio, Texas; and one sister, Lynda S. Peet of Davenport.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, near Cape St. Claire, with funeral services to follow. Burial is private.
