Steve Harden was born on August 2, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lester Williamson Harden and Mary Margaret Harden (Cox). He died peacefully at home on September 27, 2013.

He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Cincinnati.

Steve is survived by his wife, Linda, and their children, Mark (his wife, Lisa, and their expected daughter), Matt (his wife, Sarah) and Martha (her husband, John and two daughters, Hannah and Kylie). He has a sister, Sara, in Columbus, Ohio. He is loved by his in-laws, Melvin and Ruby Fair.

A good day for Steve included a good book, good music and a big bowl of vanilla ice cream. He loved spending time with his family and cruising on his boat. Some great life moments for Steve were family cruises on the Chesapeake Bay, the InterCoastal Waterway and the Virgin Islands. Those were some of his favorite memories, along with "bisits" from Hannah and Kylie's big smiles.
Steve felt very blessed for the medical professionals at Johns Hopkins Hospital, especially Dr. Norman Poulsen. His friend, Bobby Ray, was his compass.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the American Heart Association. Private services will be held for the family.
