It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) Stephen D. DeLucchi, 54, of Severn, MD. Stephen passed away early Sunday morning, June 24, 2018.
Born to Harold and Carmelita DeLucchi on February 9, 1964 in San Rafael, California, Stephen was raised in beautiful Monterey, Ca., and graduated from Monterey Senior High School in 1982. Stephen had a deep love and curiosity for the arts and his passion for music, theatre, and film was instilled in him as a child and continued into adulthood, where he lovingly passed on those passions to his children. Fiercely proud of his Native American heritage (Washoe, Paiute, Pit River, and Maidu tribes) Stephen is a enrolled member of the Washoe Tribe of California and Nevada.
In February 1984 Steve joined the United States Navy. He attended CTI "A" School at the Defense Language Institute Monterey, and the Naval Technical Training Center Goodfellow AFB, TX, specializing in the Russian language. His first duty station was NSGA Misawa, Japan where he deployed with Direct Support teams aboard Pacific Fleet combatants. In 1989, he reported for duty at NSGD Atsugi, Japan serving as a Naval Aircrewman aboard EP-3E aircraft. Following an analyst tour at NSGA Kunia, Hawaii, he arrived at Fort Meade, MD in 1994 as a hard charging Petty Officer with orders to the National Security Agency. In July 1996, he was selected for Chief Petty Officer.
In the summer of 1997, Chief DeLucchi applied for and was accepted into the Navy Drug and Alcohol Counselors School at the Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego. In January 1998, he reported aboard Naval Hospital Rota, Spain where he worked as a Counselor and Case Manager at the Alcohol Treatment Facility.
In February 2001, Chief DeLucchi reported aboard Naval Medical Clinic, Annapolis and served as Director of the Counseling and Assistance Center. Chief DeLucchi has been retired since February 2004 and is currently the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) Manager, Annapolis. His certifications include Advanced Navy Drug and Alcohol Counselor and Certified Clinical Supervisor.
