Shirley Marie Southerland, 81, a recent resident of Arnold and formerly of Severna Park since the late 1950s, died of cancer June 5 at Future Care-Chesapeake after a brief illness.
Mrs. Southerland was born July 4, 1924, in South Baltimore where she was reared and graduated from Southern High School.
She was a homemaker, who also worked as a waitress in several restaurants throughout the area.
Surviving are two sons, James Lockard of Catonsville and Richard R. Southerland Jr. of Pasadena; and two grandchildren. She was the widow of Richard T. Southerland.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge.
