Shirley Ann Niederstadt passed away on October 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on November 8, 1940 to Robert Clayton Milne and Marian Elizabeth (neé Roethlisberger) Milne in Saginaw, Michigan. Shirley grew up in Saginaw and graduated from Arthur Hill High School. She married the love of her life, Ret. Captain Robert Grant Niederstadt on August 25, 1962 and the two of them set off and lived the military life of travel in Florida, Texas, Maine, California, Rhode Island, Maryland, the Philippines, Michigan and Guam before they settled in Maryland. Shirley was a homemaker and a Navy wife.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, and travel, but above all she loved her family, raising her grandchildren, and being a part of their lives.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Cindy Miller (Chris) of Severna Park, MD and Heidi Niederstadt of Mardela Springs, MD; her son Karl Niederstadt (Olga) of Severna Park, MD; her nine grandchildren, Justin Miller, Joel Miller, Troy Miller, Tabitha Shorter, Candice Allison, Madalyn Kingman, Tyler Finlay, Paige Niederstadt, and Jordan Niederstadt; her seventeen great-grandchildren, Jesse, Kevin, Lelan, Makenzi, Vincent, Richard, Edward, Ronan, Aiven, Bently, Bella, Kylee, Jackson, Liam, Rylee, Dalton, and Harper; and her sisters Carol Goodman (Richard) and Bonnie Waters (Paul).

Family and friends may visit on Sunday October 20, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park MD, 21146. A service will be held the following day, Monday October 21, 2024 at 11:30 am at Barranco Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd Crownsville MD, 21032.
