Shirley P. Bors, 50, a resident of Annapolis for 22 years, died September 2. She was born November 14, 1959 to Louise and the late Ray Petrofsky in New Britain, Connecticut, and grew up in Berlin, Connecticut. She married James Michael Bors of New Carrollton, Maryland, on February 16, 1985. Shirley devoted herself to raising their sons, Michael James Bors, 19, and Jeffrey Sean Bors, 17. She was a member of St. Andrew by-the-Bay Catholic Church, where she served as lector and member of the Liturgy Committee.
Shirley earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting at the University of Hawaii, and obtained her CPA license in the State of Maryland. She taught at Cape St. Claire Elementary School and Anne Arundel Community College. Shirley enjoyed being with family and friends, playing the piano, cooking, camping, gardening, bicycling, and cheering on her sons at sporting events. She was an inspiration to so many people.
She is survived by her husband James Michael Bors and sons, Michael James Bors and Jeffrey Sean Bors of Annapolis; mother Louise Petrofsky of Berlin, Connecticut; sister Sue Krupa of Evans, Georgia; brother Thomas Petrofsky of Kensington, Prince Edward Island, Canada; brother Hank Petrofsky of Berlin, Connecticut; Gerald Petrofsky of Plantsville, Connecticut; Christine Wells of Plainville, Connecticut, and many relatives.
The viewing will be on Tuesday, September 7 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 8 at 10:00 am at St. Andrew by-the-Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis. A committal service will be held on Thursday 1 PM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Crownsville, MD. Online condolences may be offered at www.barrancofuneralhome.com.
