Sharon Callaway Gray, 53
It is with both a sad and joyous heart that I inform you that Sharon passed away early Monday morning June 2, 2014. Of course the only joy comes from knowing that her stressful, painful, relentless fight with Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) is over. She fought ALS hard and somehow, often managed to smile, even on the night before her passing.
There will be a viewing service conducted at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park MD on Thursday June 5th, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, June 6th at 11:00am and a graveside service will be conducted on Friday, June 6th, from 2:00pm to 2:30pm at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Annapolis MD.
Sharon was born in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, on June 11, 1961. She attended Bowie Senior High School and graduated in 1979. In 1981, she graduated from Prince Georges Community College with a degree in Psychology. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and anything to do with palm trees and beaches.
Sharon is survived by her husband David and son Michael of Severna Park MD, as well as her mother, Gloria Bernice Callaway of Front Royal, VA.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Chesapeake, ALS organization and Johns Hopkins ALS clinic for their incredible support and comfort throughout her battle with this terrible disease. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MD/DC/VA ALS Chapter and National ALS Organization.
