IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Scott Alan
Stomps
April 25, 1962 – May 13, 2025
Scott Alan Stomps, 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 13th, 2025. The son of Thomas and Sharron Stomps, Scott was born on April 25, 1962 in Huntsville, Alabama. Soon after, his family moved to Severna Park where they planted their roots. As a young man, he discovered a passion for biking and cars. Later, as an adult, he could be found most weekends on outdoor trails pursuing his love of mountain biking. Scott had a great sense of humor and many found his antics to be entertaining. The members closest to him would say his greatest passion of all was antagonizing the ones he loved.
Scott attended Severna Park schools. He graduated from Severna Park High School in 1980 and then attended Towson State University, Scott and his first wife, Rosemary, brought their daughter Ashley into the world. Scott was a very hands-on and loving father to Ashley and he had so much love for her.
He began his career at Maryland State Highway Administration and successfully climbed up the ranks throughout his time there as an engineer. During his career at SHA he met his second wife, Janet. They married on November 1, 2003. Scott proved to be the same loving and hands-on father figure to his stepchildren, Katelyn and Ryan, as he was with his daughter Ashley. After a long and successful career with SHA, Scott retired and then transitioned to serving as a consultant to the SHA at EBA Engineering, where his work talents and knowledge were much appreciated.
Scott was a very loving and devoted Pops. His deep love for his grandchildren began the day they were born and it will never cease. His grandchildren immediately became a shared passion and priority for himself and his wife, Janet. You could always count on him to attend all of the sports games, school plays, musical performances, school graduations and birthday parties. He loved being their Pops!
Scott will be very sorely missed, much beloved and fondly remembered as an individual with a no-nonsense exterior but was soft on the inside, especially with his grandchildren. Throughout the rest of our days, his absence will be deeply felt.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Ashley Harrison (Shane) and her children Brinley, Hannah, and Hudson; his stepdaughter Katelyn Capps(Trent) and her children Sean and Ben; his stepson Ryan Leary (Meaghan) and his daughter Arya; his mother, Sharron Stomps; his sisters, Michele Hauser(Brian), Zackery and Karen Ray (Adam and Alex). Scott is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Stomps; his father, Thomas Stomps; and his brother-in-law, Russell Ray.
