Sarah Jemima Yates Miller of Severna Park, passed away on February 26, 2020 at the age of 98. She was born May 29, 1921 and was raised in Alexandria, VA. In addition to Alexandria, Sarah lived in Baltimore before settling into Severna Park. She attended the University of Maryland College Park, Towson State Teachers College, then went on to George Washington University where she received her Master's degree.

Sarah was a teacher for 1 ^st and 2 ^nd grade in the Baltimore City and Brooklyn, Maryland area. She was a member of the AAUW (American Association of University Women), which is a non-profit organization that advances equality for women and girls. She loved ballroom dancing and took her passion for teaching from the classroom to the dance studio to share her passion for it.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Horace Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Susan M. Nixon, of Severna Park, MD, Margie Cooke of Severna Park, MD and Lori Yeager of Pasadena, MD, as well as 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 5-7pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 10:00 am at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. The burial will be held at Arlington National Cemtery. At this time the burial is private due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
