Sara Anne Stinchcomb (née Smith), age 91, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2021. She was born on February 22, 1930 to John and Ora Smith of Severn, MD.
Sara is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ora, her husband Victor, and son John "Walter". She is survived by her daughter Sherrie, grandson John "Clinton" and wife Karyn, great granddaughter Arley, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sara graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1947 where she was known as "Smitty", the class flirt, for her love of fun and friendship. She played Speedball, Softball and Basketball. She worked as a Title Clerk for the City of Annapolis and later for Anne Arundel County. She married her husband Victor on October 7, 1950 and resided in Arnold, MD until her death.
A resident of Arnold since 1953, Sara actively participated in the community and her church - Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold. She was a lifetime member and volunteer at the Anne Arundel Historical Society and she also volunteered at Anne Arundel General Hospital and the Annapolis Visitors Center. In her free time, Sara also enjoyed traveling and socializing with family and friends. She loved to watch the many varieties of birds that came to visit the birdfeeders outside her kitchen window. Sara was known for her love of family and knowledge of Anne Arundel County history. She has touched many lives with her kindness and generous spirit and will live in our hearts forever.
Friends and family may visit on Saturday August 7, 2021 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Anne Arundel Historical Society or Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold, MD.
