Sandra J. Mellema, of Annapolis, MD, passed away on August 27, 2025, at her home. She was born on February 15, 1948, in Baltimore, MD.

In 1970, she married the love of her life, Ernie. Sandy was a Black Lab Mom who assisted her husband in training labrador retrievers for waterfowl hunting and AKC Hunt Test competitions. She was the O. G. of the Neighborhood Gang and was a neighborhood party planner. Sandy was a fan of the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle. In 1986, she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Baltimore. She had a long and varied career as a registered nurse. Sandy especially enjoyed clinical specialties such as, IV therapy, dialysis, oncology, and occupational health. She would later be promoted to management and continued her career as director and administrator.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ernie Mellema; her beloved sisters-in-law, Denise and Lori (Franco); nieces, Becky (Jeff) and Sarah (Justin); nephews, Jordan and Ben; grand nieces, Kendall and Tennley; grand nephews, Liam and Kaleb; and dear neighbors and friends.
