Sandra Carol Carter-Ray, of Arnold, passed away on July 11, 2021 at her home while in the company of her loving family. She was born on September 18, 1945 to Samuel Paul and Ada Mae Carter in Charleston, WV. She was raised in Montcoal, WV and attended Marsh Fork High School and then West Virginia University. She later moved to Glen Burnie, MD, followed by Annapolis and worked for Anne Arundel County Public Schools at Fort Smallwood Elementary and Lake Shore Elementary. Sandra enjoyed interior decorating and antiques. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and researching genealogy and family history.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Grafton H. Ray, III; her two sons: Carter Ray and his wife, Natalie, of Arnold, MD and Wesley Ray and his wife, Mary, of Arnold, MD; her brothers Samuel Paul Carter, Jr. of Orange Park, FL, Roger Allen Carter of Canton, GA, and John Randolph Carter of Ponchatoula, LA; her sister Sharon Lynn Carter of Charleston, WV, as well as her 4 beloved grandchildren, Parker, Kennedy, Henry, and Ryan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake at 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD, 21122.
