Samuel (Sam) Eugene Higgens, 95, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024. Born in Baltimore, MD on December 15, 1928, Sam is preceded in death by his father and mother, Russell Higgens and N. Elizabeth Higgens and his beloved wife of 46 years, M. Patricia Higgens.

Sam enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October of 1946, served for 5 years, which included the Korean War, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After a long career with Westinghouse, Sam spent many years traveling, RVing and spending time with family, including his five children: Richard Higgens (wife Susan Petrie) of Durham, NC; Timothy Higgens (wife Evelyn) of North Attleboro, MA; Lynn Garcia of Westminster, MD; Brian Higgens (wife Joan) of Glen Burnie, MD; and Gail Whitehead (Kenny Jackson) of Greensboro, MD.  In addition, his family included ten grandchildren: Christina Higgens, Nathaniel Higgens, Ryan Higgens, Eric Higgens, Tracy Winder, Wayne Winder, Catherine Winder, Stephanie Higgens, Miriam Jackson and Sarah Jackson; as well as ten great grandchildren: Evangeline Higgens, Adam Higgens, John Higgens, Lilly Higgens, Veydah Winder, Zekyron Winder, Antonio Escobar, Bridget Thornton, Steele Thornton and Meadow Higgens.

Sam was a proud Marine to the very end as well as a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Shenandoah Valley Chapter 313.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday September 18, 2024 from 11:00-12:00 PM with a service to follow at 12:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment will follow at Druid Ridge Cemetery at approximately 1:30pm.
