Sadie Garrett Curtis, 78, of Severna Park, died on April 28, 2010 at Household of Angels due to a lengthy illness.
Sadie was born on May 15, 1931 in Swarthmore, PA, where she was also raised. She lived in Arnold, prior to moving to Severna Park in 1973. Mrs. Curtis resided in many other places, traveling with her husband who served in the U.S. Navy. She earned her Bachelor's degree at Oberlin College and a Master's degree in Chemistry from Purdue University.
Mrs. Curtis, a homemaker, was a Girl Scout Leader and served as a Board Member for the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. In addition, she was an active member and former president of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed traveling.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband, William R. Curtis, whom she married in 1952; her children, Robert F. Curtis of Brooklyn, NY, Carol L. Curtis of Berkley, CA and
Cynthia R. Curtis of Severna Park, MD; her sister, Ruth Shankweiler of Storrs, CT; and her grandchildren, Amy Thomas, Katie Cabrera, and Sean Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milan and Eunice Garrett.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 1850 York Road Suite D Timonium, MD 21093.
