Ruth Dorothy Medvetz (nee Cherosky), 98, a resident of Severna Park, died on January 18, 2014 , of natural causes, at Sunrise of Severna Park.
She was born on August 30, 1915 in McAdoo, PA, where she was raised, and previously lived in Springfield, PA for 30 years and Whitehall, PA.
Ruth received a degree in Nursing from Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing in Pottsville, PA and worked for BlueCross /BlueShield in Philadelphia, PA.
Ruth moved to Sunrise Senior Living in June 2010. She loved living there and the friends that she made. She enjoyed the outings, parties, Bingo, and occasional trips to the "Slots"!
Ruth was so proud of her granddaughter, Lisa Alden, who like herself is a nurse. Both she and Lisa specialized in Nursing with newborn babies.
Ruth was an avid gardener, loved reading fiction, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph James Medvetz; her parents, Joseph and Paulina Cherosky; her siblings, Connie Czarick, Florence Garzio, Violet Ciesluk, Clara Plesce, Herman Cherosky, and Aloysius Cherosky.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Alden of Severna Park; one brother, Edward Cherosky of Norristown, PA, and two grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Interment at a later date will be held in Skyview Memorial Park in Hometown, PA.
