Ruthie N. Kauffman, affectionately known as "Fuff," embarked on her eternal journey on Sunday, March 23, 2025, while residing at Sunrise Assisted Living, where she was cherished and admired by everyone, staff and residents alike. Her remarkable 101 years were a testament to her unwavering faith and her ability to illuminate countless lives with her radiant smile. Born on January 12, 1924, in Baltimore, she created a new community when she relocated to Pasadena, where she married and had one son, Edward (Ed) Loudenslager, who preceded her in death in 2016. In November 1969, she found her true love and married Thomas (Tom) Kauffman and together they moved to Arnold, Maryland. Their extraordinary life was filled with sailing and racing on the Chesapeake Bay, creating unforgettable memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew them both.

Ruth was a part of the BGE team in Annapolis for over thirty years and integral to her faith Community. Ruth was renowned for her compassionate nature and boundless generosity, inspiring countless individuals with her profound faith. She and Tom traveled and enjoyed an active life together until Tom's passing in 2016. As an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold, she spread joy and warmth, reminding everyone that faith, forgiveness, and love can overcome even the most daunting challenges.

Fuff's legacy will live on through her family, including her brother Milton Snowden of Glen Burnie, Maryland, her granddaughter Debora Obitz of Pasadena, Maryland, and her grandson Todd Loudenslager (Donna) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren (Matthew, Jonathan, Josef, Mary Kaitlynn and Bethaney) and three great-great-grandchildren (Bodhi, Rhiannon and Sebastian), and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss her. She also was heavily involved in raising George Loudenslager, Woody Richter and Sue Synowski whom she was very proud of and whom she would lovingly say, "I consider them my kids too"! The far and wide collection of friends, neighbors, and community members who will both miss her and cherish their heartwarming experiences with Fuff are too numerous to grasp.

Fuff and Tom introduced many a friend and Family member to their favorite drink, an "Old Fashioned" as they toasted many good times. She was sure to remind all who knew her, "…don't be sad when I'm gone, I've had a wonderful life." Her beautiful spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her to live life to the fullest and to never take anything for granted. God bless and rest in peace, Ruthie. Your memory will forever be a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to have known your charming, blessed soul.

Tom served respectively in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army; Ed served respectively in the U.S. Airforce. Ruthie with Veterans Tom and Ed continuously supported The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that honors those in the military and first responders.
