Ruth Amanda Flood, 91, of Severna Park, MD, passed away peacefully in the morning of January 4, 2024. Ruth was born January 15, 1932 in Washington D.C. to Edna and Eugene Geiger.  She attended Riverdale Elementary School and later, Hyattsville High School with her older sister Elise Tilyou (Geiger) and her half-sister Anita. Upon graduation, she became an administrative secretary for the Department of Defense. That is where she met meet her first husband Joseph Anthony Ramagnano and together they had one son, Kevin Douglas Ramagnano. The family resided in Mt. Vernon, Virginia with their dogs, and often vacationed at their condo in Ocean City, MD to enjoy the beach and boating-life as a family.

Ruth lost her husband suddenly to a heart attack on January 4, 1975. Years later, she moved to The Greenhouse high-rise condos in Alexandria. She met John "Jack" Flood, whom she later married, and they travelled the world together from Alaska and Hawaii, to the Baltic Sea and Russia. Following their first ski trip in Austria, Ruth and Jack became avid snow skiers, eventually trekking the mountains of Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Ruth and Jack moved to their home in Severna Park, MD in 1996 to be closer to her sister, Elise. Ruth was a faithful member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church of Severna Park where she enjoyed making casseroles for Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. As a member of Catholic Daughters of America, she organized and hosted an annual baby shower for expectant mothers in the area through the women's health organization, Mary's Center.

Ruth, a devoted dog and animal lover, donated to the ASPCA and the World Wildlife Foundation regularly. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, as well as a local quilting guild. Ruth's most impressive work was an award-winning quilt representing all of the Chesapeake Bay lighthouses.  She ensured each of her cherished grandchildren had a hand-sewn quilt from her. Ruth, known as Nana to her family, was extremely proud of her grandchildren: Cristina of North Carolina, Joseph of Kansas, Cathi, Sarah, and Kenneth of Maryland. She dedicated her golden years to raising her granddaughter Cathi, who relocated to Maryland from Utah. Ruth took great joy and pride in watching Cathi grow into a young adult, marry, and have a child of her own.

In 2022, Ruth moved to Brightview of Severna Park where she enjoyed the comradery of her neighbors, playing nickel bingo and many other activities. She thoroughly enjoyed when Cathi would bring her great-granddaughter, Carsyn, to visit and they would take wheel-chair rides together through the hallways.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Eugene Geiger, her half-sister Anita Lort (Harold), her first husband Joseph Ramagnano, her son Kevin Ramagnano, as well as her second husband John "Jack" Flood.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sister Elise Tilyou, step-daughter Kathi Bradford (Dennis), nephews Mark Tilyou and Eric Tilyou (Dona), niece Rosemary Caspar (Tom), her loving grandchildren Joseph Ramagnano (Emily), Cathi Robinson (AJ), Cristina Speaks, Sarah Robinson (Scottie), Kenneth Bradford, and her seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday February 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, Maryland. Immediately following the service, the family will proceed to Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland.
