Ruth Elizabeth Bollman, 89, of Annapolis, died of a stroke May 22 at Ginger Cove Health Care Center after a six week illness.

Born in Baltimore on Nov. 30, 1915, Mrs. Bollman graduated from Western High School in 1934.

In 1937 she married Roger Thurman Bollman, who died in 1987. They lived in Catonsville until 1950 and then on Bodkin Creek from 1950 to 1969 when they moved to Florida where she lived until 1987. She was an Annapolis resident since.

Mrs. Bollman taught second grade at Lake Shore Elementary School for about 10 years. She also volunteered at Lee Memorial Hospital, the Cape Coral Library and the Kiwanis Thrift Shop in Florida. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church Women in Florida and since 1987 a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church.

She was the mother of the late Stephen Ay Bollman and the sister of the late Edward A. and Charles Ay.

Surviving are one son, Roger Ay Bollman of Easton; two brothers, George Ay of Ocean City and Richard Ay of Arnold; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Road. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.barrancofuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
