Ruth Lorraine Alexander, 96, a long-time resident of Severna Park, died at home on June 28, 2012, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Moundsville, West Virginia, and graduated from Moundsville High School in 1934.
A homemaker most of her life, Ruth worked in fashion retail for several years in both Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Mrs. Alexander worked in a defense plant for four years during World War II while her husband served overseas in the European Theatre.
She was a member of Harundale Presbyterian Church in Glen Burnie for 56 years.
Surviving her are two sons, Jack P. Alexander, Jr. (Joanne), and Brian G. Alexander (Cynthia) of Reston, Virginia, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church in 8424 Piney Orchard Parkway, Odenton, MD 21113. A reception at the church will follow. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Funeral Home in Severna Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Harundale Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
