IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy Selby
Stavely III
August 13, 1947 – December 7, 2025
Roy Selby Stavely lll.
August 13, 1947 – December 7, 2025
Roy Stavely, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by his family. He was 78 years old.
Roy was born in Baltimore to the late Roy Stavely Jr and Gloria Stavely.
Roy proudly served in the United States Army from 1968–1971, stationed in Germany, where he deepened his love of history and formed bonds that remained meaningful throughout his life.
Born with a curious mind and a talent for working with his hands, Roy spent his career as a gifted tool and die maker. His precision, creativity, and problem-solving skills were admired by all who worked alongside him. He carried that same thoughtful craftsmanship into his everyday life, approaching each project, no matter how small, with care and artistry. These projects range from helping customize a wheelchair accessory for his doctor to building steps for a small dog to climb into bed.
A proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution and a lifelong history buff, Roy was happiest talking about the past, reading about it, or sharing stories with anyone who would listen. He loved a good routine, appreciated order in the world, and found joy in the simplicity of a well-planned day. He enjoyed gardening and regularly visiting Ocean City.
Roy shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Peggy. Together they built a strong, loving family. He is survived by his three children: Amy (Kris) Fraser, with children Taylor, Jack, and Brody; Megan (Doug) Harkins, with children Madeline, Ethan, and Michael; and his son, Joe Stavely. He will also be deeply missed by many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his humor, talent, and quiet disposition.
While his family grieves his earthly absence, they are deeply thankful that Roy is now free from pain.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday December 13, 2025 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie hwy Severna Park, MD 21146.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, whose compassionate care brought comfort and dignity to Roy and his family.
