Roy Parsons, 87, a 37 yr resident of Severna Park, died peacefully, January 15, 2014, with family at his side, after a sudden illness.
Mr. Parsons was a gracious and generous man with a sweet spirit, a radiant smile and a quick wit. He will be terribly missed by his children, grandchildren, and all who loved him.
Born in Cleethorpes, UK, and raised in England, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1956, and became a citizen in 1963. He previously lived in CA, MN, FL, PA, and moved to Severna Park in 1977.
A Veteran of the Royal Air Force, United Kingdom, with the 194 Squadron nicknamed the "Friendly Firm", Mr. Parsons served in the Korean Conflict in Burma South East Asia from 1944-1946. An avid sailor, Mr. Parsons enjoyed life on the water, along with 20 plus years as a Distinguished Volunteer at Baltimore Washington Airport, serving in the U.S.O. and as an Information Pathfinder. Mr. Parsons also worked as a sales manager for 3M for over 40 years.
Mr. Parsons is survived by his 2 daughters, Deborah Barnes of Fountain Hills, AZ and Kim Quigley of Stevensville, MD and three grandchildren, Lindsay Hardman of Tampa, FL, Emma Quigley, and Aidan Quigley, both of Stevensville, MD.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Annapolis, MD, with a reception to follow at the Fleet Reserve Club in Annapolis.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake or the U.S.O.
