Roy Field, a long time resident of the Annapolis area, passed away from natural causes on September 28th, 2023. Roy was born February 25th, 1936 in Southland, Texas to the late Tim and Dessie Field where he was the 8th of 10 children. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. After serving in the Army, he began his civil service with the U.S. Government which spanned 45 years. He first worked for the Department of Defense at the David Taylor Naval Research and Development Center in Annapolis before transitioning to the Department of Transportation in Washington D.C. where he spent the bulk of his career working as a Safety Specialist before retiring from the DOT in 2007. One of Roy's greatest passions was his relationship with his church, Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church. He was a founding member and nothing brought him more joy than the fellowship he enjoyed with the congregation. In addition, Roy enjoyed traveling, sports, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his three sons, Patrick Field of Hawley, Pennsylvania, Sean Field of Lusby, Maryland, and Andrew Field of Chester, Virginia; their respective spouses Matthew Rupcich, Jo Ann Field, and Tia Field; and sisters, Mary Lou Ritchey of Dalhart, Texas and Bonnie Dooley of Kyle, Texas. He is also survived by six beloved grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 2pm in Christ Our Anchor Church, 1281 Green Holly Drive, Annapolis, MD 21409.
