Rosemary Haefner Schammel, 82, of Severna Park died suddenly on September 10, 2013.
Rosemary was born and raised in Baltimore and later graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame. Rosemary and the late William A. Schammel were married on May 19, 1956. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a medical secretary at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a teacher's aide and school secretary at Visitation Academy in Roland Park, and as a caregiver and companion to many elderly patients.
Mrs. Schammel was a member of bowling leagues at Hillendale and Seidel Bowling Lanes, and she was the former president of Deutsche Damenchor German Women's Choral Group. She enjoyed gardening, baking, watching classic movies, canning, and sewing. Rosemary loved spending time with her grandchildren, vacationing at Swallow Falls, boating, playing slot machines and bingo.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Rosemary E. Scherba (Frank) of Pasadena; son (twin), William H. Schammel (Margery) of Baldwin; daughter (twin), Maria S. Andrzejewski (Chet) of Millersville; grandchildren, Kara, Robert, and Garrett Scherba, Laura and Marella Schammel, and Renee Andrzejewski; brother, Henry C. Haefner of Severna Park; sister, Emma E. Haefner of Pasadena; cousin, Richard Pfau; nephew, Eric Haefner (Amanda) of Oakland; great-nieces and nephews, Jakob, Athena, Helayna, Romello, and Lennox.
Friends and family may visit Sunday, September 15th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 16th at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist 689 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Baltimore.
