Rosemary Danforth Clanton, 76, of Annapolis, MD died on December 18, 2008 of natural causes. Rosemary, wife of Ronald Clanton (deceased) and mother of two, was born on November 6, 1932 in Bloomfield New Jersey and was adopted by Harold and Mildred Danforth.

Rosemary grew up in New Jersey and New York. A talented singer Rosemary sang in many choirs in her youth with many featured solos. As a teenager she also lived for a year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rosemary maintained contact with several of her classmates from that time attending several class reunions. She graduated from Hempstead High School, Long Island, NY in 1950 and attended business school after High School.

In 1952 Rosemary married Ronald Clanton in Dayton, OH and moved to the Annapolis area where they both worked at Westinghouse Electric Co. She and Ron settled in Arnold, MD where they raised their children.

In the 1960s Rosemary and Ron purchased a summer home on the island of Grand Manan in New Brunswick, Canada where Ron's mother was raised. Spending summers on the island Rosemary, the consummate hostess, routinely gathered family and friends for lobster feasts and fabulous dinners. Recently Ron and Rosemary donated most of their Grand Manan property to the Natures Trust of New Brunswick Canada as a park, named the Meredith Houseworth memorial seashore in the memory of their niece who died in 1988 at the age of 20.

Rosemary ran her own cake and cookie baking service for students at the Naval Academy and worked at the Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) mathematics department for several years. In the 1970s, Rosemary and Ron lived in Scotch Plains New Jersey for a few years where Rosemary thoroughly enjoyed attending numerous Broadway shows and New York's restaurants with friends and family. They returned to Arnold in 1979 where she began a career as a travel agent that she enjoyed for many years. During this time Rosemary traveled extensively, visiting every continent with the exception of Antarctica, to which she had scheduled a trip, but canceled when Ron's health became fragile.

In 2002 Rosemary and Ron celebrated their 50th anniversary with friends and family. Rosemary lived in Heritage Harbor since Ron's death in 2006.
A loving mother and wife, Rosemary loved to entertain her family and wide circle of friends with her wonderful culinary skills. Her generosity and kindness to friends and family was humbling and noteworthy.
An avid sports fan, Rosemary particularly enjoyed football, figure skating and tennis. More recently she was a member of the choir at Heritage Harbor and Peer Learning Partnership at the AACC. Rosemary loved animals and nature, gardening, going to the theater and movies, listening to music, going to rock & roll concerts, and reading.

She is survived by her two children, Claudia Woods and Arthur Clanton; her 3 grandchildren, Jessica Woods, Scott Woods, and Cecelia Clanton; her son-in-law Edward Woods and daughter-in-law Angela Clanton; her sisters Nellie Jane Evans and Nancy Houseworth, 3 nieces, 5 nephews, 3 great nieces, 5 great nephews, and many, many friends.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Rosemary's Life on January 3rd at 3:00 PM at her daughter's home at 3540 Jamestown Rd, Davidsonville Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: American Diabetes Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
