Rose Van Meter

Rose Marie Ann Van Meter, 77, a resident of Arnold, died of natural causes April 17 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Born Rose Marie Krompasky on Feb. 16, 1931, in Cleveland,n Ohio, she married the late William Van Meter in 1957 and moved extensively due to her husband's military career, settling in Arnold in 1968.

A homemaker, Mrs. Van Meter was a devoted Catholic and member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. She was also a member of Arnold Senior Center.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, the holidays and loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in April 2000; and her late daughter, Carrie Marie Van Meter, who died in 1964.

Survivors include four sons, William J. Van Meter of Greensboro, N.C., John J. and Patrick M. Van Meter of Arnold and James C. Van Meter of Evans, Ga.; one daughter, Sherill McQuain of New Oxford, Pa.; and ten grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home at 495 Ritchie Highway.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054.
