Ronald E. Riegel, 86, a resident of Severna Park, died on May 13, 2010 at home, due to a lengthy illness.
He was born November 3, 1923 in Lynn, Indiana, and raised in Red Key, Indiana.
Mr. Riegel served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was in a B25 squadron and flew over 100 missions and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He also served in the Korean War and was stationed in the Arctic.
He met Ima Ingram in New York City and they married on November 19, 1947.
He worked for Minneapolis Honeywell Corporation and retired as Regional Manager. During his career he lived in Richmond, Milwaukee, and Chicago until they finally moved to Severna Park 45 years ago.
Mr. Riegel loved music and was an avid woodworker. He made grandfather clocks, spinning wheels and all types of furniture.
He was the beloved husband of Ima Riegel, who died in November of 2008. His survivors include his son David Riegel of Severna Park and two grandchildren, Aradia and David.
Services and Burial at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy, Annapolis MD 21401.
