Roland Ramlow, Sr.
Roland Edward Ramlow, Sr., "Rolly", 85, a resident of Severna Park for 45 years, died of complications of vascular disease on June 15 at an assisted living facility in Arlington, Virginia.
Mr. Ramlow was born April 2, 1919, in Schenectady, New York. He was married to Elizabeth Nita Dilley in 1941 until her death in 2001. They moved to Baltimore from Syracuse, New York in 1946, settling in Severna Park in 1959.
He worked for over 33 years for Department of the Army Corps of Engineers, including active duty in Burma during World War II, and 26 years designing mechanical systems for the Baltimore District. He retired as Chief, Industrial Facilities Section in the Military Branch, Engineering Division, Baltimore District in 1973. He continued working until 1985 as a mechanical and project engineer for: Kaiser Engineers; Miller, Schuerholz and Associates; Whiteman, Requardt and Associates; and H.K. Ferguson Company.
For many years, he enjoyed tennis, sailing, skiing, music, writing, and reading. He loved life and family and wrote several books in retirement.
Surviving are his, one son, Roland E. Ramlow Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia; one daughter, Betsy Lynn Ramlow of Severna Park; one brother, William Ramlow of Schenectady, New York; one sister, Marguerite "Peggy" DeNegris of Rotterdam, New York; and one grandson, Roland Eric Ramlow of Alexandria, Virginia.
Services and burial are private.
