Roland Thomas (Tom) Albert, 73, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away on February 3, 2016 due to complications from a long, courageous battle with scleroderma.
He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on May 7, 1942 and was the son of Joseph A. and Florence Albert (Rioux). Tom graduated from LaSalle High School, enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS OXFORD and afterwards spent a 38 year career with the Department of Defense at Fort Meade, Maryland. He was married to Loretta Lois Ratliff on August 21, 1965.
Tom was a devoted husband and loving father. He loved traveling, playing tennis and spending time with family and friends. He was always the life of a party, quick to make new friends, loved the art of the negotiation and would help anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his wife Loretta; his son Chris (Debbie) Albert of Millersville, MD; his daughter Kim (Bret) Dennis of Ashburn, VA; and grandchildren, Brian and Jessica Albert, and Caroline, Thomas and Zachary Dennis.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 11 from 7-9 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park, MD. A Funeral Service will be on Friday, February 12th at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to benefit the research of Dr. Ellen Stein at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
