Roberta "Robbie" Mislevy, 68, formerly of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Waterman, Illinois, passed November 16, 2022, in Severna Park, Maryland. Robbie was born December 15, 1953, to Harry Jr. "Bob" and Janet Bronson.
Robbie graduated from Waterman High School in 1972 and played softball for Waterman and the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, winning two state Farm Bureau Championships. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University, where she met her husband, Robert J." Bob" Mislevy in 1973. They had two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Meredith. Robbie's greatest joys were her children and grandchildren.
Robbie was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, flute, French horn, and tympani. She often accompanied several choral groups on the piano, including the Waterman Methodist Junior Choir and her father Bob when he sang. Robbie studied piano with internationally known pianist and piano professor Donald Walker at Northern Illinois University.
While in Illinois, Robbie worked for Proctor and Gamble as a sales representative, and managed Townhouse Books in St. Charles then the Persimmon Tree gourmet food store in Geneva. After moving to Lawrenceville, New Jersey, in 1984, she established Forget-Me-Not Antiques and operated from co-ops in Hopewell and Lambertville and played in several softball and volleyball leagues.
After organizing book fairs for the students at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School where her daughters attended, Robbie became a library aide there. She went on to obtain a graduate teaching certificate at Rider University and taught second grade for five years at Ben Franklin. She then become a technology teacher for the Lawrence Township district's elementary teachers, to help bring a modern learning experience to children in the classroom.
Robbie was an avid photographer. Robbie and Bob's travel in the US and Europe led to several of her photographs receiving juried prizes and honors. The National Parks were favorite locations for landscapes and animal photographs. A yearly calendar of her photographs was a cherished family gift.
Robbie is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Mislevy of Severna Park, Maryland; her children Jessica Mislevy (Rémi) of Washington, DC, Meredith (Zachary) Hughes and two grandsons Alex and Elliot Hughes of Annapolis, Maryland; sister Debra "Debbie" Bronson of Irving, Texas, brother Robert Jay "Butch" Bronson of Riverview, Florida; niece Cassara Bronson and grandnephews Rhyan, Reid and Remi of Wesley Chapel, Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Cynthia Mislevy of Bartlett, Illinois; and, nieces Lea Ann Mislevy of Chicago, Illinois, and Lorin Mislevy of Bartlett, Illinois. Robbie was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial gathering and service will be held at Barranco Funeral Home on Sunday March 5, 2023 from 1-3pm with the service beginning at 1:30pm.
