IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Franklin
Zgorski
August 23, 1930 – May 28, 2021
Robert "Bob" Franklin Zgorski, 90, a longtime resident of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1930 to Adam and Margaret Zgorski in Dorance Township, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Baltimore, Maryland when he was a child.
They say love is blind…and on that blind date Bob found the love of his life, Rita M. Paszkiewicz. The two were married on September 9, 1956 and their family rapidly grew as they had 7 children in 11 years. Family was always Bob's main priority; spending weekends together on the ski slopes in the winter, boating on the Chesapeake Bay in the summer, coaching various sports teams and ensuring to be home for 6 pm family dinners every single night. Bob also enjoyed fishing, and hunting with his sons, brothers and friends.
Bob founded Columbia Auto Supply in 1959 and grew it into a thriving business to include seven stores and a warehouse. Bob's work ethic was second to none. He was a great leader who imparted his business savvy onto his family, as well as his employees. He sold the business in 1988 then managed the properties in his "retirement" well into his 85 th year. In addition, Bob cherished the countless hours over 15 years that he devoted to his volunteer work at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Bob's heart and hands have touched the lives of so many. Anyone who knew him knows that he had a passion for building, creating and fixing just about anything. He kept quite busy making rounds to the homes of his children to make repairs or build whatever was necessary. He finished basements, renovated rooms, and changed more brake pads than we can count…all with love and kindness…and maybe a six pack of Yoo-Hoo!
"Bobby" was an amazing and active grandfather to his 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He gave each one their own special nickname, (carrying on that tradition), rocked them to sleep as he sang "He's Got the Whole World in His Hand," taught them how to fish and water ski, and loved having them stay with him and Momzee for Camp Burley during the summer.
Bobby blessed his family with a strong foundation of everlasting faith and unconditional love. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita Mary (Paszkiewicz) Zgorski and his 7 children: Gary "Squirrel" Zgorski (Anne) of Boyds, MD; Renee "Lambie" Renner (Chris) of Fairfax, VA; Kevin "Chip" Zgorski (Lori) of Reisterstown, MD; Robyn "Robin" Clifton (Tip) of Annapolis, MD; Rhonda "Kitt" O'Brien of Severna Park, MD; Rachelle "Bunny" Lamb (Greg) of Potomac, MD; and Roxanne "Dove" Jett (Chris) of Ocean City, MD. He is also survived by his 25 grandchildren: Ali, Stevie, CJ, Geoff, Joey, Brenna, Christine, Robby, Heather, Charlie, Kevin, Davis, Ryan, Lauren, Brendan, Carly, Maggie Anne, Katie, Robert, Gracie, Kyle, Sarah Grace, Zander, Tad and Peter, his 4 great grandchildren: Frances, Georgie, James and Lola, and his brothers Carl and Tom. He was preceded in death by his brothers Adam Jr. and Leonard and his sister Margaret.
