Robert Henry Trissel, 83, of Arnold, Maryland, died peacefully at his home on March 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Trissel had been a resident of Arnold for 28 years.

He was born on December 10, 1927 to Leroy and Gracemary Trissel in Philadelphia, PA.

Most of his childhood was spent in Canton, Ohio with his six brothers and one sister. As a teenager he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. After he graduated from Lehman High School he enlisted in the army.

Mr. Trissel met his wife Norma while attending classes at Kent State University. He graduated with a business degree in 1951. He worked for the Hoover Company for ten years and then for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. The highlight of his career with Westinghouse was when he was appointed Treasurer of the Dublin, Ireland division of the company where he then resided with his family for three years.

Mr. Trissel's passions included both domestic and world travel along with a keen interest in the Hispanic culture . He was fluent in Spanish and enjoyed conversing in Spanish when the opportunity arose. He was a history buff and completed significant research on his family geneology.

Mr. Trissel retired in 1992 from Westinghouse. At this time in his life, he was involved in volunteer work at the Hispanic Apostolate in Baltimore, MD. He touched many lives in his work teaching English as a Second Language in the evening program at St. Mary's in Annapolis. He was also an active member of St. Andrew by the Bay Church.

Mr. Trissel's most precious moments were those spent in the company of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother Roy Trissel and sister, Gracemary Ley.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Trissel of Arnold, MD, four brothers, James Trissel of Akron, Ohio, Richard and John Trissel of Canton, Ohio, and Gerry Trissel of Virginia, IL; six children, Thomas Trissel of West Chester, PA, Susan Greig of West Grove, PA, Patricia Cleveland/Robert of Downingtown, PA, Charles Trissel/Cathy of Millersville, PA, Mary Wolfe/Scott of California, MD, and Ann Heid/Robert of Arnold, MD, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 15, 2011 from 5:00-8:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday March 16, 2011 at the St. Andrew by the Bay Church 701 College Pkwy Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD
