IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert James
Stankard
August 22, 1938 – September 23, 2023
Robert James Stankard, aka Bob, Dad, and Baba, a thirty-year resident of Arnold, Maryland, died of complications from a stroke on September 23, 2023. He was born in Cedarhurst, NY, son of James and Catherine (Stafford) Stankard, a childhood clouded by the death of his father when was ten and enriched by his introduction to our mom, Ada, at a Valentine's Day dance when he was 15. Their connection was immediate and enduring: they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this year. Our dad was a proud Eagle Scout, University of Dayton graduate, United States Army veteran, and sales representative/marketing manager (30 years for Eastman Kodak; ten years for Canon) and especially proud of his three children (Cathy, Jamie, and John), whom he loved fiercely and unconditionally, as he did his son- and daughters-in-law (Gregg, Betsy, and Susan) and grandchildren (Caroline, Alexander, Katie, Evan, Nora, and Maya). He had the great fortune to live in and travel to many places, but was never happier than when running errands or puttering around his garage. He could talk to anyone about anything, a reflection of his natural curiosity, and would and did anything and everything for us. We will miss him terribly.
Interment at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery will be for family only. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
