IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Milbert
Scott, Sr.
August 24, 1937 – December 10, 2018
On Monday, December 10, 2018 our Father whispered gently as He called His son home. He knew his child was tired, weary and ready for his journey to his Heavenly Home.
Robert Milbert Scott Sr. was born on August 24, 1937 in Shady Side, Maryland to the late Milbert Sellman Scott and Annette Wicks Brown. Robert was educated in the Anne Arundel County public school system most of his childhood before moving to Baltimore City where he successfully completed his General Education Development.
Robert enlisted into the United States Air Force at Fort Holabird, Baltimore Maryland in December 1956. Soon after his enlistment he married the love of his life, Lydia Edna Scott (nee Houston) on December 20th, 1958. Robert served more than 20 years in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Control & Warning Radar Technician to the rank Technical Sergeant. He served overseas tours of duty in Africa, Japan, Philippines, and Alaska as well as several duty assignments within the continental United States. Following his military service, Robert was employed for over 20 years as a highly skilled aircraft radar electronics technician working for companies supporting the Department of Defense.
Robert was an extremely hard worker. After completing two consecutive 20 year careers supporting the Department of Defense, he started his own Income Tax Preparation business, preparing and filing tax returns for dozens of clients for more than 15 years. Robert did manage to find time to enjoy life when not preparing tax returns. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. Some of his favorite past times were attending Baltimore Ravens football games, traveling on vacation cruises to the Caribbean, and fishing off the Maryland Eastern Shore and North Carolina coast.
Robert was a very generous man who truly loved his wife of 60 years and his children. He planned numerous family vacations around the country during and after his military career. He was always available to provide financial advice and support to his family whenever he was needed.
Robert leaves to mourn his precious memory: wife Lydia E. Scott; three sons, Robert M. Scott Jr., Anthony Z. Scott (Jean), and Michael D. Scott (Kelly); a daughter, Michelle D. Squires (Randy); ten grandchildren, Anthony, Jasmine, Mariah, Danielle, Madeline, Robert J., Macey, Jermaine, Morgan, and Marissa; siblings, David and Warren (predeceased), Belvain Smith (Charles), Hayden Smith (Ina), and Wayne Scott; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and many friends.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 11am to 12pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A service will be held at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial is to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD, 21032.
