Robert A. Schindler, 85, a resident of Severna Park, died at his home on March 21, 2014.
He was born on February 7, 1929 in Baltimore, MD, was raised in the Waverly area of Baltimore, and attended St. Phillip & James School. He lived in Baltimore until 1969, then resided in Severna Park. Robert served as Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War from 1951-1953.
Robert worked for the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company for over 40 years from 1948-1989. He was a member of the American Legion Post 175.
He enjoyed crabbing & fishing and he loved to cook. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandkids and great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Margaret (Hewell) Schindler and his son, Jerome F. Schindler.
He is survived by his children, son Joseph R. Schindler (Tina) of Lexington, KY, son John Schindler (Linda) of Severna Park, daughter, Catherine A. Rzepkowski (Ken) of Severn, daughter Ann Marie Schindler of Glen Burnie, son, William J. Schindler (Rachel) of Severna Park; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve (plus one on the way) great grandchildren; and long time close friend, Linda Kennison.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 24, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park. Interment will follow in Baltimore National Cemetery in Baltimore.
