Dr. Robert "Bob" Niccolini, 84, passed away on October 8, 2025. Bob lived his last years in Annapolis, Maryland, surrounded by his sons, his grandchildren and his loving wife.
Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 13, 1941, the only surviving son of Hugo and Sandy Rossi Niccolini. He was the first in his family to attend college, and then graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1966. After serving in the Navy for several years, he had a fifty+ year career as a Psychiatrist, caring for countless patients as the Chief of Psychiatry at Hutzel Hospital in Detroit, and later as Chief of Psychiatry at Snowden Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, along with his work for the State of Virginia and in his private practice. Bob was also a Professor of Medicine for many years at Wayne State University.
While still a resident at Wayne State, Bob met the love of his life, Marlene Gralewski, and often said his greatest accomplishment was convincing her to marry him in 1966. Bob was a dedicated family man, and an amazing father to his three boys Robert, Michael and David. He was also a wonderful Nono to eight grandchildren, and lived to meet two of his great grandchildren as well.
Bob is survived and sorely missed by his wife Marlene; his sons Robert, Michael and David; his daughters-in-law Leeann, Cristina and Beth; his grandchildren Kate, Chris, Trey, Charlie, Lauren, Caroline, Johnny and James; and his great grandchildren Emmie and Hudson.
Bob's funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park, Maryland at 11:00 am on November 28, 2025. May his memory and legacy be a blessing to all.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Wayne State University School of Medicine.
