ROBERT ANTHONY (BOB) MACHINCHICK

April 4, 1932 - March 20, 2017, age 84

Passed away peacefully on March 20 with family by his side.

He was survived by Joan, his wife of 60 years, daughter Lynn Hayden, granddaughter Jessica Friend (and her husband, Frank), great granddaughter Nina Friend, and one nephew, Michael Machinchick and his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Josephine Machinchick and brother, Frederick Machinchick.

Born in Southold NY and raised in the small town of Cutchogue NY, he attended Cutchogue Elementary School, Southold High School where he excelled in basketball and volleyball, and received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Villanova University.

After serving in the army and employment with Combustion Engineering, Western Electric and Westinghouse, his career was with NSA.

He lived in Maryland for 63 years and married Joan Buckland in 1956.

He was known as a quiet man with a subtle sense of humor. A General Aviation pilot, his interests included sailing, especially frostbite racing his Rainbow, "Barcarolle", tennis, amateur radio, model aviation and waterfowl carving.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 3 PM -5 PM at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 10 AM in St. Andrew by the Bay Roman Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21409. Interment will be private.
