Robert Leon Bieri, 61, of Severna Park, Maryland, passed away on Jul 7, 2025.

Robert (Bob) was born on April 27, 1964, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Loriel (Safford) and Leon Bieri.

His father's service took Bob around the country; he lived in Georgia, Kansas, Texas, Massachusetts, and Maryland before they settled down in Severna Park, MD from 1978 until he left for college. Robert attended Severna Park Senior High School and graduated in 1982. He sought a challenge equal to his wit, and attended MIT, where he earned both a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (in 1986), and his PhD (in 1991). He lived in California from 1990-1995. He became an Engineer in the defense industry where he worked on a myriad of sonar, radar, and computer modelling projects over his career.

Robert married his loving wife, Christine Bieri on July 6th, 1991.

He was a member of IEEE; the MIT club of Washington, DC; and Sigma Xi. Robert enjoyed backpacking, hiking, and reading. He enjoyed seeing movies, going out to eat, or anything that let him spend time with his three sons.

Robert is survived by his wife, Christine Bieri of Severna Park, MD; his three sons William Bieri, George Bieri, and James Bieri, all of Severna Park, MD; his brother, Tom Bieri of Rohnert Park, CA; his niece, Kayla Bieri of Purmerend, Netherlands; and his uncles, Larry Safford of Los Angeles, CA and Charles Safford of Lovettsville, VA.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, July 18th from 3-5 and 7-9pm at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park MD, 21146. The following week, on Saturday July 26th, a Memorial Service will be held for Bob at St. Martin's in the Field Episcopal Church, 375 Benfield Road Severna Park MD, 21146.
