Robert Joe Hughes, Sr., 70, a five year resident of Pasadena, MD, died suddenly from a heart attack on October 26, 2009 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie.
He was born on March 20, 1939 in Dunham, KY and raised in Rocky Holler, KY and previously lived in Millersville, MD for 32 years.
Mr. Hughes was retired from Bethlehem Steel after thirty years of service. He owned Hughes Printing Company for sixteen years and drove a school bus for Anne Arundel County for four years.
He was a member of the Army Reserves for 7 years, a member of the Pasadena Assembly of God Church, with whom he served on 13 mission trips abroad, and he was a member of the Young Adults Bowling League at Southdale Lanes
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hughes and Levodas Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Faye Hughes (nee Mullins) of Pasadena, MD; three daughters, Karen D. Baker of Glen Burnie, MD, Robin L. Hughes of Pasadena, MD, Lisa A. McMahon of Millersville, MD; a son, Robert J. Hughes, Jr. of Pasadena, MD; three brothers, John W. Adams of Ponte Gorda, FL, Jack Adams of Baltimore, MD and Mack Adams of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Dorothy Adams of Baltimore, MD; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home and on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 10-11 AM at Pasadena Assembly of God Church. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Pasadena Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in Glen Burnie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pasadena Assembly of God Church, in support of Ambato Missions Project in memory of Robert Hughes, at 206 Pleasantview Avenue, Pasadena, MD 21122.
