Robert (Bob) Lee Hinkle, 79, of Severna Park, MD, passed away on May 5, 2022.

Robert was born to Hilda (nee Knaub) and Eugene Hinkle in Alexandria, VA, on November 2, 1942, and married his wife, Virginia (nee Hartsell), in Baltimore, on November 30, 1963. After graduating from Brooklyn Park High School, he studied at Johns Hopkins University and earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in Engineering.

Bob went on to have a career with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and traveled the world analyzing and resolving spectrum management issues. While at NTIA, Robert received the Bronze Medal for outstanding contributions to the Department of Commerce.

He enjoyed the outdoors and, especially, "reliving his childhood" at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, researching his family genealogy, model trains, and any game or contest.

Robert is survived by his sons Gregory Hinkle (Deborah), of Baltimore, and Jeffrey Hinkle (Andrea Brown), of Annapolis; daughter Susan Howard (Christopher), of Millersville; grandchildren Connor Hinkle, Courtney Hinkle, Griffin Hinkle, Madeline Howard, and John Howard; and brother Donald Hinkle (Woodward Briggs), of Estero, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Hinkle, in 2021.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10am at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A private burial will take place directly after the funeral service at Fairview Cemetery in Wrightsville, PA.
