On May 3, 2011, Robert "Bob" W. Davies, 68, died peacefully at home with his family by his side after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born January 23, 1943, in Columbus, OH, to the late Tom and Betty Davies. A 28-year resident of Severna Park, he was a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, and served in the United States Air Force for 23 years. He enlisted in the Air Force and served 5 years before attending officers' school. During his career, he served at Kelly AFB, TX, Malmstrom, AFB, MT, Ramstein AFB, Germany, and Ft. Meade. He retired from the Air Force in 1988 and then worked as a staff accountant at Clark & Anderson in Glen Burnie, MD, from which he retired in 2009. An active community volunteer and leader, he was a member and past president of the Severn River Lion's Club, served on the Vestry at St. Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church, served on several diocesan committees for the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, was the Treasurer of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, a board member at the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, a member of the Arbutus Golf Club, and an avid golfer.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Margaret; his children: Jessica Davies of Severn, MD; Jeremy Davies and wife Devon of Brooklyn, NY; and Beth Sanz and husband Kris of Silver Spring; grandsons Drew Davies of Severn, MD, and Tate Davies of Brooklyn, NY; brothers Ted Davies and wife Suzi of Spring, TX, and David Davies and wife Tina of Montgomery, TX; nieces Lynneth Whitten, Amy Mirabile and Catherine Davies; and many loving cousins, friends and extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Linthicum on Saturday, May 7th at 5 pm. Interment to follow at the St. Christopher's Memorial Garden.
