Robert Cassell
Robert Charles Cassell, 81, of Severna Park, died of cancer June 6 at the House of Angels, an assisted living facility in Severna Park.
Mr. Cassell was born July 28, 1923, and reared in Peoria, Ill. He served in the Army as a sergeant from 1943 to 1945 during World War II in northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe and received the Bronze Star.
He earned a master's degree in 1952 in political science from Bradley University in Illinois. In 1984 he retired after 33 years as chief of investigations, Office of Personnel Management, in Washington, D.C.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 14000 in Kansas City, Mo. An avid Orioles fan, he also enjoyed walking, swimming and biking.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret T. Cassell; four sons, Ernest R. Cassell of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Joseph J. Cassell of Minneapolis, Minn., William R. Cassell of Rosemount, Minn., and James T. Cassell of Stillwater, Minn.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow with services to follow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
