Robert (Bob) Ernest Buttles, of Severna Park, passed away on April 17, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 19, 1955 to Alan Ernest and Barbara Bruckner Buttles in Springfield, Massachusetts. Bob was raised in Vermont and lived in various places before settling in Severna Park in 1997. He received his MBA in Finance from the University of Baltimore and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware. Prior to retirement in 1994, he worked as a mechanical engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers - Baltimore District.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Marcie McAvoy; his children, Sarah Elizabeth Buttles and Robert Alan Buttles; his mother, Barbara Buttles (nee Bruckner); his siblings, Andrew Buttles and Betsy Hampton (Thomas); his niece, Barbara Villarrubia (Mark) as well as many other loving family members and friends including many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Alan Ernest Buttles.

Bob was very active with Boy Scout Troop 339 of Severna Park serving as a committee member for the troop. He conducted many rigorous boards of review and organized many backpacking trips, including Philmont, for the scouts. He was an avid backpacker and loved to sail. Bob coached for the SPRA and the Green Hornets sport teams. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity in college. Most of all, Bob adored his children and was proud to be a stay at home dad to Sarah and Robby.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 5-6:30pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A memorial service will be held that evening at 7pm at the funeral home.
