Robert G. Allgaier
Robert G. Allgaier, 71, husband of Helen L. Allgaier and 35 year resident of Severna Park, died of complications from diabetes at Johns Hopkins Hospital on May 4, 2008.
Bob was born on February 11, 1937 in Williamsport, PA, the son of the late George and Emily Allgaier and brother of the late Fred Allgaier. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School class of 1956.
Bob began his career with Nabisco at their corporate offices in Manhattan where he stayed for 15 years. He then entered the moving industry with North American Van Lines and was transferred to Maryland. He thrived in the moving business and was soon recruited by Allied Van Lines as their regional Director of Sales. Bob managed and mentored agents up and down the east coast and as far west as Chicago. Agents around the country relied on Bob for his financial advice and business leadership. Tiring of travel and craving more family time, Bob became president of a local Allied Van Lines Agency and remained until retirement in 2000.
Bob loved coaching his kids in numerous sporting activities as well as playing in various community leagues with friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Helen and spending time at their beach house in Ocean City, MD. Bob was an active member of Church of the Crucifixion and served on its Finance Committee. He was also an active member of the Berrywood Community Association and acted as President from 1980-1981. Above all, his greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Bob is loved and missed by his five children, Craig Allgaier of Virginia, Mark Allgaier of Arnold, Cindy Carey of Philadelphia and Robert Allgaier and Julie Antinucci, both of Millersville, as well as 12 beloved grandchildren.
